Definition of the term, "Google adsense"Google adsenseAlso known as: "adsense" Google Adsense (https://www.google.com/adsense/)is the publishing program offered by the search giant Google. It allows website owners to publish adverts on their site, based on Google's Adwords program (where advertisers can promote their products and services on Google's search results via pay per click advertising). Publishers receive a share of the pay per click cost paid by advertises. Adsense is a contextual advertising program - this means that the text adverts display advertisers based on the content of the page of the site they are being displayed on. So for example, if your page is about plumbers in Edinburgh, then most likely you will be shown adverts for plumbers in Edinburgh. Launched in 2003, Google Adsense has changed the search engine optimisation industry by allowing publishers (website owners) to become largely self sufficient (other methods of website monetisation pale in comparison to the revenue generated from Adsense). However this has led to the phenomenon of "Made for Adsense" (aka MFA) sites taking over some SERPs - auto generated or low quality content sites designed solely to generate income from Adsense by targeting high value areas such as gambling. Regardless of the negative effects of Google Adsense,
the program itself has been embraced by hundreds of thousands of website
owners worldwide and as a result, created a massive content network of
publishers displaying Google's adverts. Related terms and definitionseflaunt is a UK Internet Marketing and Search Engine Optimisation agency based in Edinburgh, Scotland. For industry news, please refer to the eflaunt SEO blog.
